Are you ready to take steps towards a greener lifestyle?
Today, we celebrate World Earth Day, an initiative that began in 1970 to encourage us all to cherish our planet’s diversity and beauty while embracing sustainable practices.
In the shared vision of global climate governance agenda and China’s dual carbon goals, Tsinghua students have been at the forefront of impactful environmental efforts. Here are some essential activities that you can’t miss!
Net-zero Lifestyle Challenge
The Student Association on Net-Zero Future (THU-NetZero) proudly presents the “World Earth Day x Net-Zero Challenge,” launched via a WeChat mini-app. This inspiring initiative kicks off on World Earth Day and runs throughout the entire week, marking a special tribute to Tsinghua’s 113th anniversary. The challenge features daily themes aimed at exploring various aspects of environmental engagement. Join in activities such as a second-hand fair, crafting eco-friendly items, and delving into the scientific aspects of climate change through a climate fresk workshop. Huang Chunjie, the designer of the mini-app, underscores the importance of individual contributions, stating, “Small actions can shape a green future, and through everyday practices, we can achieve a sustainable lifestyle.”
Tsinghua Youth Climate Week
In addition to global observances, THU-NetZero organizes an annual campus campaign called Tsinghua Youth Climate Week, scheduled one week before the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties. This event features lectures, workshops, and activities like solar observations, aiming to leverage the multidisciplinary strengths of youth in climate action.
Green Community Cultural Festival
Green Student Community Festival
Held on April 11th, the 12th Green Student Community Festival is dedicated to embedding environmental consciousness into everyday life. THU-NetZero has played a pivotal role in organizing the event, which includes interactive activities designed to enhance environmental awareness. By making simple choices—like choosing eco-friendly clothing, utilizing public transportation, and minimizing the use of disposable utensils—we can make a significant positive impact on our planet.
THU-NetZero continuously works alongside governments and NGOs to foster impactful environmental initiatives. One such effort is the upcoming plastic reduction event on April 28th at Zijing Sportsfield, organized in partnership with Plastic Response. This event aims to showcase how plastic waste can be transformed into valuable resources, demonstrating the power of collaborative sustainability efforts.
We look forward to seeing you at the activities, where TsinghuaRen's commitment to safeguarding our planet for future generations will be on full display. Let’s join hands in making every day Earth Day!
